Economics and Finance are interrelated disciplines that supplement each other very well, even if the specific features are different. Economics studies local or global markets, human behaviour, goods and services, etc. Economics looks at how goods and services are made, distributed and used, as well as how the economy overall functions, along with the people who lead economic activity. Finance focuses on financial systems and everything related: banks, loans, investments, savings, etc. Finance, as a discipline, is derived from economics. It involves assessing money, banking, credit, investments, and other aspects of the financial systems. Both disciplines open the doors to well-paid and in-demand jobs. Economics is harder than Finance because Economics uses more advanced math (algebra, calculus, differential equations) to explain more complicated scenarios and processes.

 

The Institute of Economics and Finance is focused on training and development of economists, who can successfully solve job-related problems of financial accounting, analysis (evaluation), planning and control, using the results of scientific research and modern teaching technology, as well as an experience of leading foreign and national universities, implementing multi-level educational programs. Institute graduates are prepared for the following types of professional activities:

•  ● managerial;

The Institute provides education in full-time and part-time mode of study for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in “Economics” and “Finance and Credit”. By studying at the Institute of Economics and Finance, you will:

•  ● gain the economic reasoning, quantitative skills and institutional knowledge required to solve practical problems arising in finance.
•  ● develop the analytical tools and institutional knowledge required to work as a financial economist.

The lectures are delivered by leading experts in financial and economic fields – real-life tax authorities, workers of Treasury, National Bank, credit institutions, etc.

There is a Scientific and Educational Center “Sustainable Development of the North”, and a student research laboratory “Investment Planning” attached to the Institute.

Employment prospects are extremely good for both finance and economics majors. However, economics degrees can give graduates an edge over other candidates. There’s increasingly a glut of finance degree holders competing for the field’s enticing well-paid jobs.
